Skating will be for clubs only until the lobby is finished about October 18. Thanks to NAU Hockey donors, new glass and dasher boards, as well as new bleachers with 550 seats are being installed. A new audio system has been proposed but the city is still looking for donors to fund it.
More photos, including interior construction, are on the Flagstaff Recreation Services Facebook Page.
Jay Lively Users Group was formed after the collapse to represent all the skating clubs and public skaters of Flagstaff.
Spokemen for Jay Lively Users Group continue to meet with the contractor, Ben Fisk, and other city staff to monitor progress on the ice rink rebuild, plans for setting up the donated Williams rink at Jay Lively as a second sheet, and future expansion and upgrade plans.
The city has kept their promise to start rebuilding the rink using the "fast-track" alternative. We will get a new facility built to current codes, but without improvements. It's time for the rest of us to step up and donate to the city's Jay Lively Donation Fund to support future improvements. Money donated can only be used for the ice rink, and you can specify how your donation will be used:
Thank you, Mayor Presler and the City Council, and Ben Fisk and city staff for your support of Jay Lively Ice Arena and Flagstaff's skating community.
